melissafindley:

Steen and I started the making of this video last year. The nights were long, cold and hard. Fighting the urge to quit for the night and go and party with our friends who were a few street away was also a hard temptation to resist, but some how we managed too.

All I can say about this video is I’m proud of it… at LOT of blood, sweat and yes actual tears (from me) went into this Video. I tried really hard to capture this massive project and condense it into just over 4 minutes… so I hope I managed to do some justice to the AMAZING job that Steen did on this wall at the Rose Street Artist Markets

Trying to keep this short and sweet, I guess it goes without saying how proud I am of Steen too, but i really feel like i need to add it in… He is doing incredible things and I really want to add that you need to watch his space. Exciting projects are coming up which we both cannot wait to share with you. Please keep an eye out for the latest Tattoo’s Downunder Magazine which will be hitting the stores this week too! Theres a big feature piece on Steen’s work and my photos got published (yay)

Anyway, I hope you like it <3

If you’re feeling it please share it around.

Just a little background before you watch this - I originally enquired about a blank panel upstairs at The Rose Street Artists Markets but was loosely offered the main internal wall instead. I was hesitant as the wall inside was painted by Melbourne artist ‘Puzle’ about 10 years prior, but due to the weathering damage and permission from ‘Puzle’ himself, I took the project on. My biggest project to date began. I scraped back and removed the loose paint and mortar, applied 2 base coats and was ready to start.

Towards the end of the main wall, the owners/legends from Rose Street Artist Market’s mentioned they wanted the front panels re-done as they were in a lot worse condition and they wanted to revamp the face of their premise. Unfortunately, couldn’t find contact details for ‘Kofie’ so was reluctant to begin the wall as I didn’t have permission, but weather damage considered and knowing it was going to be painted over anyway I did (Sorry Kofie). I Spent hours guerneying and scraping the paint back to the loose original render and removed that then painted on top.

As the market is PACKED wall to wall all day Sat-Sun, we were only able to get in and work after business hours during the week and weekend nights.

Through all of this my amazing girlfriend Melissa Findley not only documented it, as she does with everything I do, but also helped me out a great deal with everything from helping me scrap back the walls, to bringing me down packed dinners and going on multiple cider runs. Without her I’d have starved to death and wouldn’t been lucky enough to have this video to show you either. Super proud as always, thanks babe!!!

Adam and Christian thank you too for being so easy going and giving me the opportunity and trust you did, very thankful for that and it was all a pleasure, I am glad you are as pleased as I am. Cheers.

Kennards Hire for looking after me and covering me with all of my scaffold needs Also thank you Puzle for the permission, without that, neither would have happened. Kofie, you too for not having me murdered yet haha. I hope you’re not and sorry if you’re offended dude, I guess I’m still new to this ‘world’ and I hope if you see/read this you aren’t offended.

To everyone else, I really hope you like it. It feels good to finally be able to share this.

If you like it enough, feel free to share. MUCH LOVE!

A couple of weeks back Marmalade Bar invited me to paint their front street/bar area
live to kick off their Sunday Summer BBQ sessions…

I had never done anything live or even painted in front of many people so I didn’t really know what to expect or how I would perform under pressure but it sounded way to fun to turn down so I did it. Overwhelming as it was at the beginning trying to perform while also trying to meet and greet everyone, it was super fun and I hope everyone had as much as I did.

Firstly, Big love to Kamala for giving me the opportunity and looking after me including the extra Veggie and Vegan options for some of my pals along with Thea and ALL of her amazing staff also for best hospitality before, during and after the day, absolute legends!! And a HUUUGE thank you to every single new, old or canine face that came along, dropped by and or messaged to support Melissa and myself. I appreciate it a great deal and it wouldn’t have been the same without you….

Alsssssso last but in no way least, much love to my pals at Macbeth Footwear for not only giving us a heap of mean shoes and clothes but also for getting behind and supporting the both of us on the day and welcoming us into the Macbeth fam!

Please Re-blog, RT or share this on Facebook to help us out and Macbeth will be help YOU out by slinging one lucky person a pair of the same Macbeths that I’m wearing in the video! Thank you xo

It’s been a minute since I’ve uploaded any of my work as I’ve decided to hold everything back
for the release of my new blog that’s gonna be on your head this fortnight.
It’s been a hard few weeks/months working my day job while living nocturnally doing what I want to do
but shits looking up as I’ve already got some dope stuff bagged up to do over the next few but for now here’s a taste…..

This video was made by my lifecoach and girlfriend Melissa Findley.
I’m so lucky to have someone so talented to live, work and vibe off all the time, it rules. Thank you.

If you enjoy it or want to help me/us out I’d/we’d be grateful if you re-blogged it. Peace!

melissafindley:

So it seems like a life time ago since Sydney, I’ve been so busy in-between but I’ve finally finished Part 2 – the best part. Featuring the talented Joel Birch from The Amity Affliction and my talented boy Steen Jones. Thank you to both of you :)

Back in February, Joel was kind enough to let me do a little something something on his wall inside the Monster Energy Indoor Skatepark in Sydney early morning before they filmed their Youngbloods video clip. Joels general efficiency and the bank I was working was real slippery which stressed me a fair ammount to begin with but after a while it was real fun and the time flew.

Much love to Joel for the opportunity and Melissa for putting this all together for us. Please re-blog it for her!

My first video… ‘Sydney in 96 hours. Part 1. Feb 2011.’

Thank you to Steen Jones, A.A & Calvin,  Joel Birch, The Amity Affliction, Mark Lonsdale of Kaleidoscope tattoo, FIVE SIX SEVEN… without you it wouldn’t have been as fun or possible.

Part 2 dropping soon…

Melissa’s first video attempt and it turned out dope… real proud.
If you feel it please reblog it for her and I said please. Enjoy!
